For OVO, ceramics are not just a material to be shaped, but the starting point of a story made of gesture, time, and transformation. Each object is born from living matter, handcrafted and interpreted through ever-changing shapes, colors, and surfaces.

From the processing of raw materials to the meticulous decoration, every stage of the process is followed with artisan care. The result is never an identical object, but a unique piece that retains the mark of the hand, the firing, and the material.

From matter to form

It all starts with a handful of clay: a simple, ancient, and transformable material, capable of becoming crockery, a decorative object, a vase-sculpture, or an everyday artifact.

OVO uses clay with an eye on the present, but without losing its connection to tradition. The forms arise from a balance between memory and contemporary language: references to Mediterranean ceramics, the Moorish heads of Caltagirone, and table objects are reinterpreted in a modern key, keeping alive the relationship between past and present.

The Hand Gesture

The entire production process, from raw material processing to decorative detailing, is rigorously handcrafted.

Each piece is made one by one. The hand is not merely a technical tool, but an integral part of the object's identity: it shapes, corrects, guides the form, and leaves subtle traces that are never completely repeatable.

In the vase-sculptures, plates, and decorative objects, manual processing makes each artifact unique. Proportions, thicknesses, and surfaces may vary slightly: these are not flaws, but hallmarks of the artisanal nature of the process.

Color, decoration, and uniqueness

Decoration is the moment when the surface becomes language.

On the plates, each brushstroke follows the free movement of the hand: the colour settles on the ceramic in a way that is never completely identical, making each decoration unique and unrepeatable. Every brushstroke, and consequently the plate it decorates, is truly unique.

The oxides, glazes and finishes contribute to creating chromatic variations, depth and different surfaces. The colour is not applied as a simple ornament, but becomes part of the form, the material and the visual identity of the object.

Cooking and processing

Each piece is fired at high controlled temperatures as a unique object, not as an industrial batch.

Firing is the step that definitively transforms the material: clay becomes ceramic, color changes intensity, the surface stabilizes, and the object acquires resistance, weight, and presence.

Variations in shape, thickness, and surface are not defects, but the signature of craftsmanship. Each piece carries its own story, made of material, hand, time, and fire.

For this reason, OVO objects are not conceived as perfect replicas, but as living artifacts: unique, recognizable, and capable of transforming the everyday into a narrative.
